We are so excited to celebrate our wedding with you in Bali. Having our favourite people travel from all over the world to be with us means more than we can say.

Here you'll find everything you need to plan your trip, along with a few tips about the island and what to expect on the day.

Attire

Summer garden formal. Light fabrics and light colours.

June is Bali's dry season: clear skies, lower humidity and around 26–30°C, with a cooling breeze in the evening.

  • Avoid dark colours, which feel much warmer in the sun.
  • For men, ties and jackets are optional.
  • For women, the ceremony is on grass. Choose shoes you can comfortably walk and stand in.
  • Sunglasses are encouraged.

Where to stay

Before the wedding: Sanur

We'll be in Sanur in the weeks before the wedding, as will several guests. Stay nearby and join us for lunches, dinners and drinks.

We recommend the foreshore between the Hyatt Regency Sanur and Icon Mall Bali.

We're still finalising our hotel and will post it here once it's booked, in case you'd like to join us.

For the wedding: Candidasa

For the wedding days, we recommend staying close to the venue in Candidasa. Two good options nearby:

  • Candi Beach Resort & SpaMap
  • Seabreeze CandidasaMap

Anywhere else in the area works well too. Hotels can book taxis for you, and on the wedding day our driver can pick you up from your hotel and take you home afterwards.

After the wedding: Ubud

After the wedding we're heading to Ubud. We'll post our hotel here once it's booked, in case you'd like to join us there too.

Getting around

Wedding transfers

For the Welcome Dinner, The Wedding and Recovery Day, our driver will take you between your hotel and the villa at no cost. Send us your hotel and we'll confirm your daily pick-up time.

Everywhere else

Grab is Indonesia's Uber and works almost anywhere on the island. Add your card in the app and you won't need cash for the driver.

Good to know

Money, tipping & haggling

Cards are widely accepted, but cash is useful for markets, tips and small cafés.

$1 AUD ≈ 10,000 IDR
£1 GBP ≈ 13,000 IDR

Tipping isn't expected but is appreciated. We usually tip unless a service charge is included, including drivers, room cleaners and laundries.

Market prices start high. Be friendly and enjoy haggling.

Offerings

You'll see small palm-leaf trays called canang sari everywhere, filled with flowers, rice and sometimes incense. They're a daily act of gratitude. Please take care not to step on them.

Temples

Everyday dress is relaxed, but at temples please cover your shoulders and knees. A sarong is perfect, and most temples rent them.

Staying well

Drink bottled water and avoid ice unless you're somewhere reputable. Choose cooked dishes over salads, which may be washed in tap water.

Walking

Footpaths are uneven and kerbs can be high. Comfortable shoes and a little extra care go a long way.

Food to try
  • Nasi goreng
  • Mie goreng
  • Sate ayam
  • Nasi campur
  • Pisang goreng
  • Gado-gado
  • Babi guling
  • Mahi mahi

A few of these will feature at the wedding.

Monkeys

Around places like Ubud's Monkey Forest, monkeys are expert pickpockets. Leave jewellery, sunglasses and hats behind and hold on to your phone. If something is taken, a local guide can usually trade for it. A small tip is appreciated.
